Quick answer

Buy the Tikee 3 Pro+ if the camera position has no mains power, you want a stitched 6K panorama, and the project budget carries a per-camera subscription of at least $69 a month. Buy Timelapserobot if the site has power and you want images online and upload alerts for €999 with no mandatory fee; a client share page comes with the paid plan. Over two years a single Tikee with the entry plan costs roughly twice as much as our system on its top plan.

This comparison is written by Timelapserobot. We have not run a Tikee on our own sites; every Tikee fact below comes from Enlaps' product and pricing pages, its helpdesk, and independent reviews, last checked in September 2026 and linked at the end. Where Tikee is the better choice, we say so.

Where Tikee is the better choice

No mains power, for months. This is Tikee's home turf. The integrated solar panel and large battery keep it running through most of a Central European year without anyone visiting. Our system needs a permanent power cable and we do not sell a battery or solar option. If power is impossible, Tikee wins outright.

You want a panorama. Two lenses stitched into one ultra-wide 6K image cover a whole site from a single point.

Where Timelapserobot is the better choice

The site has power. Then you are paying Tikee's premium for autonomy you do not need. Our complete system costs less than half a Tikee kit and does the same core job: capture, upload, archive, alert, share, render.

You do not want a mandatory subscription. This is the biggest practical difference. Tikee's cloud features require a myTikee plan, one per camera, from $69 a month. Timelapserobot's free plan already includes upload, archive, upload alerts and one render a month; paid plans are optional.

Multiple cameras. Because myTikee is licensed per camera, three Tikees on the entry plan cost about $207 a month in fees before hardware. Three Timelapserobot cameras on the free plan cost nothing monthly, and even on the Business plan €147.

You want the hardware back. Our housing holds an unmodified GoPro HERO 13 that becomes a normal action camera after the project. A Tikee stays a Tikee.

Cost over 12 and 24 months

Subscription prices are in US dollars as published by Enlaps; the euro totals assume roughly 1 $ ≈ 0.90 €, so check the current rate.

TimelapserobotTikee 3 Pro+ kit, Storytelling planTikee 3 Pro+ kit, Reporting plan
Hardware€999~€2,100~€2,100
Subscription, 12 months€0 / €348 / €588$828 ≈ €745$2,148 ≈ €1,930
Total, 12 months€999 to €1,587~€2,845~€4,030
Total, 24 months€999 to €2,175~€3,590~€5,960

Even on our most expensive plan, two years of Timelapserobot cost less than one year of Tikee with the Reporting plan. If solar autonomy or the panorama is essential, that premium is justified. If not, it is money spent on capability you will not use.

Can I use a Tikee with TLR Cloud to skip the subscription?

No, and this is worth knowing before you buy. A Tikee uploads to myTikee only. Enlaps does offer forwarding of your images to your own FTP or SFTP server, but only inside a paid myTikee plan, so there is no route to a third-party platform that avoids the fee. That is different from ordinary IP cameras: a Reolink, Hikvision, Dahua or Axis camera uploads straight to TLR Cloud for free.

Verdict by scenario

  • No power, long project, panorama wanted, fee acceptable: Tikee 3 Pro+.
  • No power, but no panorama needed and no fee wanted: neither. Look at Brinno in our Brinno vs Timelapserobot comparison.
  • Power available, remote checks wanted, no mandatory fee: Timelapserobot Complete Setup.
  • Several cameras on one site with power: Timelapserobot, because the per-camera fee math favours it strongly.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Tikee 3 Pro+ work without a subscription?
It captures to its SD card without one, but cloud upload, remote viewing, alerts, sharing and the FTP forwarding all require a myTikee plan starting at $69 per camera per month.
Can Timelapserobot run on solar power?
Not as sold. The Complete Setup needs continuous mains power. We do not offer a battery or solar variant, so for an off-grid position Tikee or a battery camera like Brinno is the right choice.
Which one has better image quality?
Tikee produces a stitched 6K panorama from two lenses, which is unmatched for wide sites. The GoPro HERO 13 in our system captures single-view stills up to 5.3K with excellent detail. Choose by whether you need the panorama.
Is Tikee cheaper than Timelapserobot over time?
No. A Tikee kit with the entry subscription costs roughly €2,850 in the first year and €3,600 over two; Timelapserobot costs €999 to €2,175 over two years depending on plan, and can run free.
Can I forward Tikee images to my own server or another platform?
Only through a paid myTikee plan, which can push images to your FTP or SFTP server. The camera itself does not upload anywhere else.
